Le Weekend
MGB visited...
Friday started off with a text from MGB explaining how he was stranded on the runway at Shannon, in the plane! Aer Lingus - jesus!!! Later they were sent back to the terminal. Later still they were boarded again and even later than that they took off. After all of that MGB was only an hour later than we expected him.
The remainder of the weekend seemed to be an experiment in how much a person can eat and drink before doing irreperable damage to themselves.
There were a number of happy occassions to celebrate, not least of which was me passing my driving test. So we began Friday evening with champagne. We then ordered lots of food from P.O.S.H - a colonial Indian restaurant. MGB went for the Jhalfrezi - when I ordered this I received 3 warnings about how hot it was. Mike didn't seem to have any regrets, even when he discovered whole green chilies in there. I don't knwo if that counts as bravery or stupidity. There was lots of food there and we did it great justice. As we sat there with buttons popping the phone rang. P.O.S.H wanted to see if we were happy with everything - nice touch, we'll be calling them again.
Saturday was pleasant enough. We drove into the new Forest (Mike was threatening to shot the ponies, which upset me lots. I'm very senstive you know). The weather was nice and after much pony and heather chasing (don't ask!) we found lunch. Lunch was a sandwich but being the pigs that we are, we all ordered sundaes for dessert. These it turned out they never charged for - so there's another establishment we can't return to for fear of arrest :-)
Saturday night there was lots of food. I made Oggies - cornish pasties basically - fileld with lamb and mint. We had an array of gourmet sausages (thanks MGB) to keep us going while the oggies were in the oven. Lots of Corona/wine was consumed and we rolled to bed at midnight.
Sunday was a little better in that we had a long walk and a simple lunch. We all got a little pink in the sun but I think consensus was that the walk was a good idea. We came home only to turn around and go get all-you-can-eat-chinese.
I thnk we were quite restrained - well we all managed to walk home, we couldn't have eaten that much. BUt i tend to be a pig at the best of times. Beer and chinese were followed by a sedate game of scrabble and more alcohol. Alcohol always makes scrabble better, especially when Jamie surprises everyone my winning the game in his second go!!! Poo-poo!!
So all-in-all we had a good weekend but we do all need to start some serious detox now!
