Happenings

You can tell there's not alot happening at work for me at the moment, as I seem to have time to write more posts. Notice also, that the posts don't get more interesting, just more frequent.
This post is mainly being written so that in a few weeks when I've forgotten what has happened I can refresh my memory as to how strange I can be sometimes.

(J thinks this one's a doozie) I am currently on some prescription medication (no comments please) and had to get a refill yesterday. There are 84 tablets in all, and the first time I received 3 boxes with the tablets split between them. The nice thing was that each strip of tablets had 4 tablets each and this was handy cos that was one daily dose. Yesterdays lot came in 5 boxes of 15 and 1 box of 9; each strip had 5 tablets, except for one with 4. 15 is not an even number and strips of 5 tablets don't help a person keep track of whether they have taken the right dosage or not. So, I emptied all boxes onto the table and repacked them so that there are now 4 boxes of 20 and 1 strip of tablets with 4 tablets. This is much easier to manage, I have one days worth on a strip and then each box contains 5 days worth. Much more sensible.
J had to laugh; apparently OCD is alive and well!!

There's a guy at work who used to make fun of me because of my Irish accent and specifically how Irish people say certain words. For a while this guy was stuck on how Irish people say the wrod 'film'. Repeatedly, for weeks, he would ask me to say 'film' and I would respond and say 'film' - sometimes to be cheeky I would say 'movie', see I'm not that funny. Anyway, last night we were going to the cinema again and after dinner I walked out of the room and said to J: 'Our filum is starting in 20 minutes'. I stunned myself. When put on the spot I have the concetration to say it right but when talking naturally it seems that I fall into the sterotypical irish way and I say 'filum'. Can you see the difference? Can you see what I'm getting at?
I guess I should be proud, after 3 years in England I have managed to retain my Irish-ness and I still sound like a spud-gobbling, cabbage-eating bogger from the arse-hole of nowhere :-)

This one has nothing to do with my strange-ness but I feel I need to warn everyone who might go to see The Holiday in the Cineworld Southampton. There is a part in the movie where Jack Black is singing in a video rental place. Anyway, just before he gets to his big crescendo the sound goes for a few seconds and when it comes back, right at the moment of the big crescendo, the volume comes back but MUCH louder and you get Jack Black's booming voice at its loudest ear-bursting best/worst (depends on how you feel). Anyway, I feel the warning is necessary since after this moment you may never hear properly again.
As an aside the movie is only ok.

Good movie

Personally, I would never pay any attention to a movie review from me. I will pretty much watch ANYTHING; I do not have what can be described as discerning tastes.

That said, I do think that Deja Vu was pretty good. I tend to like Denzel Washington movies. While the basis of the story was a little unbelievable (being able to watch the past happening), if you can put that aside, there was a story which had flow and of course there were explosions. I like explosions :-)

Anyway, for an action packed 2 hours, go see it.

BTW, did anyone else notice that Jim Caviezel was cute? well, i did.

And then there were 2...

Well, we were always 2; but now we're 2 with not alot of stuff. The movers came at the weekend.

You see we've been keeping a little secret from some of you; we are moving back to Ireland in the New Year. So from January we will be residents of the Emerald Isle once more!

We booked the movers some time ago and they were quite vague about exactly which day they would come to get our stuff - we don't have furtniture so it is just stuff. Anyway we figured we would at least get a couple of days notice. They rang Jamie on Friday afternoon at 2pm to tell him they would be collecting our stuff on Saturday at 3pm!!! Oh my God, there was total panic but by 2am Saturday morning we had just about everything packed.

And now it's all gone. The place is so bare, there isn't even a radio. We are eating our meals off picnic plates and drinking from beakers. It's so pathetic! But at least it is only for a short time.

Back to motherland :-)
